00:25:12: Let's get it man.

00:25:13: I'm your host King Flo.

00:25:15: welcome to the mixtape attic radio show.

00:25:18: we connecting the platform friends Once again, and today my special guest is none other than Trey Datt in the building.

00:25:27: How are

00:25:28: you bro?

00:25:28: I'm good man.

00:25:29: anything hip hop i am great.

00:25:31: Yes sir.

00:25:32: yes sir we here making them connections bro.

00:25:36: And now it's the mixtape addict show.

00:25:38: so i think u know the tradition and have to ask u man The mixtapatic question who your all time favorite DJ?

00:25:48: Okay, if you want to say all time I'm gonna take it back to my youth in New York City man.

00:25:51: I would say DJ Red Alert without question that was One of my official Introductions is really loving hip-hop?

00:25:58: I will see him and mr.. Magic but I skip at the red alert because red alerts acts with dj.

00:26:02: Mr.

00:26:02: Magic was a host.

00:26:04: um anything fire Hip Hop.

00:26:06: Red Alert played it on this for today's where major commercial radio Was breaking hip hop records.

00:26:12: so yep You was fired Red Alert we'll play you.

00:26:15: I mean there were couple times when He might have just a record that ended up being fired, but he had one of the best A&R years for dope hip-hop at their time.

00:26:23: For long period and making pause tapes.

00:26:26: you know when cassettes was popping having those pause tapes.

00:26:29: like Hip Hop it's everywhere.

00:26:31: there is different energy man love for the craft.

00:26:35: all artists sound different.

00:26:36: everybody has its own style.

00:26:39: The creativity was intense.

00:26:42: Now, sometimes a mixtape might sound like one song.

00:26:44: Like everybody's sound the same.

00:26:46: you know what I'm saying?

00:26:47: Unless you find a DJ that is really in tune with The Streets.

00:26:50: but Red Alert had his ear to the streets for decades man.

00:26:54: To this day nothing more compared than that feeling because it was fresh and new for me at the time You know.

00:26:59: so Red Alert no question

00:27:01: Exactly!

00:27:02: That's why i was about say as uh... One of the pioneers of hip-hop And back here In those days ,like u said..You have be original, you gotta be creative.

00:27:11: You didn't want to sound like the next person.

00:27:14: No, never.

00:27:15: Yeah

00:27:15: That's crazy.

00:27:16: Do you think it is something that is lacking nowadays?

00:27:18: or do you think authenticity comes back into this game?

00:27:22: I would say yes and no from your position.

00:27:25: It was just.

00:27:26: a lot of artists aren't being heard.

00:27:28: There will always be dope artist.

00:27:29: I don't care what John Redd is.

00:27:31: there'll always going to create an artist but the commercial platform is where they are.

00:27:37: The radio isn't in place to break records anyway.

00:27:39: They're making money.

00:27:40: So and a lot of it is I will fault as well because as streaming came along You know, a lot artists you know were falling off As far as you know with the labels in the budgets on labels money and sales going down It became more over business.

00:27:54: And a lot things kind of went haywire from there.

00:27:56: an artist weren't Educated enough sometimes how to carry on and move forward for how to readjust and reinvent yourself.

00:28:03: There's always got to reinvent yourself all the time.

00:28:05: like I stopped dealing with streaming because i just deal with band camp, cause im like if you want to rock with me.

00:28:10: You know your go the bandcamp and stream it from there or you download it form there And then some good and bad with that.

00:28:15: but The whole streaming element Just kind of turn me sour Because its Like everybody's on There.

00:28:19: so you try To do something to make you different?

00:28:21: Like i have a landing site and i deal With Band Camp and i press Some hard copies here in there.

00:28:26: no you Try to be Different.

00:28:27: i connect with DJs like yourself and you Know try to Have my music played all over the place.

00:28:32: So At least my name will have a buzz more so than just getting on Spotify and paying for Spotify promotion, which is another but some bot numbers And I could tell you yeah.

00:28:42: Yeah two hundred thousand strings But you never heard of record.

00:28:44: You know I'm saying so I'm one sooner Just Connecting with DJs like yourself that are being heard in all over different countries.

00:28:51: And this has nothing to do with me.

00:28:52: I'm just saying as an artist general Just reinventing itself and giving yourself a chance To actually be heard and doing things of substance Over things they have style, you know That's what the artists need?

00:29:03: i think thats when The change happened.

00:29:05: You Know What Im Saying With All The Spotify You know, all of YouTube promotion as they call it now.

00:29:11: Where you just have numbers where everything is a number game and what the follow was Everything Is A Number Game?

00:29:15: You Have A Lot Of Artists That Are Just Coming In And Out.

00:29:17: So Revolving Door Revolve Into A Revolved Door Even With The Shows!

00:29:21: You Don't Have Loud Shows Anymore.

00:29:23: People Going Stays And Just Wrapping Over The Record Y'Know?

00:29:25: You Don'T Have The DJ Igniting The Crowd y'Kknow?

00:29:28: YOU DON'T HAVE THE ARTIST.

00:29:30: CONSUMER RELATIONSHIP ANYMORE EITHER!

00:29:32: Yeah You Know What I'm Sayin'?

00:29:34: So It Used To Be A Time.

00:29:35: Well, you felt like you knew an artist because their music was a part of that personality.

00:29:39: Like just to throw random names out there.

00:29:41: red man music were part is his personality A guy like Nas.

00:29:45: when this personality comes You kind of connect up with the music.

00:29:48: now azis talking and doing podcasts or things it had.

00:29:51: Now It fits within the music.

00:29:53: back then we have that with the artists.

00:29:55: We had that connection.

00:29:56: That made me feel like he knew the artist.

00:29:57: so I made him want to buy the product cuz that was.

00:30:00: That was your connection.

00:30:01: and opening up the cassette, looking at the liner notes in all of that stuff.

00:30:04: Social media takes their joy away because The album covers promoted a hundred thousand times before it drops.

00:30:11: Yep

00:30:12: And you have to do that as an artist.

00:30:13: You know I mean back in the days when something dropped...you couldn't wait to get the album cover.

00:30:16: Read the liner note.

00:30:17: Who produced this?

00:30:17: Who produced that?

00:30:19: The shout outs and the pictures and other things like that.

00:30:21: That's really taking a lot of love from the game A lot creativity A lot originality A lot authenticity away from the game, but with that being said as an artist you guys are DJ.

00:30:33: what're you gonna do about it?

00:30:35: I agree with you man.

00:30:36: But i think your doing right thing by just using Bandcamp or on your own website because at end of day most important thing she need is a solid fan base.

00:30:49: It's not like having million views out there.

00:30:56: Like how many people are really going to be?

00:30:59: Fans and supporters of your music?

00:31:02: not a lot, you know.

00:31:04: And when you take it different route then focus on.

00:31:07: You know like you say putting yourself from Ben cam.

00:31:10: It creates that thing That you just said at link between the people in the hardest because you actually purchase from the hardest website or bandcamp page, and you might be one that's gonna make a package.

00:31:25: You know what I'm saying?

00:31:25: Like seal your CD put it in an envelope And ship to the customer.

00:31:30: so thats one way To create a special link with people.

00:31:36: i used do that when i drop my physical project... I do help myself!

00:31:41: I can tell you.. I sealed the cd Puted into an envelope.

00:31:46: Little message, you know for the people that Yeah So so you feel closer to the hardest yeah.

00:31:54: Well I had a on my clothing brand love mad which is short for love makes difference.

00:32:01: Whenever someone bought my clothing I would have a CD out throwing there.

00:32:04: I will always sign it and add a card.

00:32:07: That said the origin of my clothing brain.

00:32:10: And I don't key chains with inspirational things on.

00:32:13: they're always put little things on their.

00:32:16: Because for my thing, man I'd rather have five likes on a post.

00:32:20: If it's five people that actually like what i'm doing then just have one hundred fifty likes and don't connect with anybody you know.

00:32:26: so Like now I'll have a nice network of DJs to where...I feel like I've got good enough connection with the way they trust whatever I say to them.

00:32:35: They trusted me to be genuine.

00:32:37: That means more than meeting twenty thousand DJs.

00:32:43: I have a few DJs that if i send them something, they automatically put it on their radio show or in the next tape before to even hear.

00:32:51: And then you just build up rapport and thats all I can ask for from doing this.

00:32:56: being an MC of more mature age... You know?

00:33:00: I don't really care about going viral because those are like smoking mirrors..I really just care about building that solid Network of people and like you say it within the packaging without your presence yourself.

00:33:12: with how do You communicate?

00:33:14: even when interviews man, we're not doing interview.

00:33:15: I try to give good interviews in good insight because When people hear you talking that could be The first.

00:33:22: then a last time they see your face.

00:33:24: Yeah Or even get your voice?

00:33:25: You know Like some people are boring as hell on an interview.

00:33:28: And i'm thinking like man, you really just don't want people to like you.

00:33:30: bro What's what you're doing?

00:33:32: whatever personality you have is unique within Yourself.

00:33:35: you might Be introspective you might be funny You might have deep stories, whatever it is that makes you you.

00:33:41: You have to represent to the fullest.

00:33:43: every time we had an opportunity do and I heard some people talking about me as artists on a interview they were saying basically was saying i'm in my love era because when I speak on topics try make the best out of it trying connect everything.

00:33:58: being loved life enjoying the fact overcome so much diversity like never looked at music from perspective write what feel.

00:34:07: But what they said, you know it kind of meant something.

00:34:10: I say okay maybe that's it?

00:34:11: Maybe then but i'm doing because... ...I don't rhyme about anything the rock at all yeah.. I don't rime about pitfalls unless I rhyme a bit about a pitfall and solution.

00:34:19: You know I try to be solutions based on my music cause'.

00:34:22: I tried to do in life.

00:34:23: Try to be sometimes don't work out there way but.... I miss that with hip hop too as well when we talk like just the lyrical content And power up their content.

00:34:34: If he made party record He did your best to rock a party.

00:34:37: If it was an introspective record, you did your best to make a point.

00:34:42: And the videos a lot of times would match that.

00:34:45: It wasn't always in The Club... ...it wasn' t always rhyming about getting high.. ..it wasn´t always about calling women all kind of derogatory names Even though nothing new under the sun.

00:34:54: But our music and hip-hop didn't represent That.

00:34:57: if they did speak on that They spoke with us in creative way.

00:35:01: I think we are coming back for that.

00:35:04: It's been so many records, you know like the years have gone by.

00:35:09: Time flies man and people.

00:35:11: there are so many artists nowadays that I think they want to come back to authenticity.

00:35:16: They want something that can relate too You know like they want to hear a rapper that drops a few lines and you have to go back and replay the track To really understand maybe the double and tender in there.

00:35:29: In The music, you know I think we're coming Back to authenticity from all of the interview That i've been doing with all these DJs And All that They pretty much agree that people are tired to hear bullshit.

00:35:40: Music did just wanna come back to that real.

00:35:43: so when you When you Have A vision?

00:35:48: build a fan base, I think nothing can stop you.

00:35:52: You know if...

00:35:53: I think the DJs deserve most of their credit for that because without the DJ just giving them platform to be heard A lot of MC's would quit.

00:36:03: what keeps me going is platforms like yours in different podcasts and also keeps me gone cause whenever i think about it im done with this man.

00:36:13: Im gonna do one more project.

00:36:14: next thing ya'll connect with somebody else.

00:36:17: thats getting your head on another level And then you get reviews from this level and that level.

00:36:22: Then, maybe I'll do a little bit more because enjoy doing it like the music is what brings me joy.

00:36:27: You know politics connected where they can be our asshole.

00:36:30: But when you meet DJs putting forth their effort to put quality sound out there.

00:36:35: That keeps all artists going with true-to-the craft.

00:36:38: Like for me even if i connect with a dj ain't not playing every record I've put out.

00:36:42: It's fine but still support them cause just a piece of the game that we need to be out there.

00:36:48: Like, I know some artists... The only time they'll support a DJ is if their song was on a particular playlist or their song's in a particular show.

00:36:55: and for me thats corny but thats just me.

00:36:57: everybody can move how they wanna move.

00:36:59: once i connect with someone ima connect one day.

00:37:00: ill might just be bored and ill might send you a message yo peace bro.

00:37:04: just give him your shout.

00:37:05: man keep pushing he needs ya when the game man that ain't hurting me.

00:37:08: man that shit took what

00:37:11: ten seconds?

00:37:12: Because you're a real one bro.

00:37:14: It's not everybody that takes the same but thanks to, we have people like you who support DJs because it is a lot of young emcees don't understand the importance of the DJ in hip-hop culture.

00:37:27: cause as I said before streaming platforms and all You know, I remember how it was heavy on the mixtape game in twenty ten, twenty twelve, twenty fifteen something like that before the streaming platform arrived.

00:37:41: They stole the miXTAPE format from us and they turned into a playlist thing you know?

00:37:50: The young people now don't think were introduced properly to the DJ culture and I cannot blame them because it's the way society works.

00:37:59: It didn't put the DJ in front of them so they can understand that, but you know we're still here and shit.

00:38:06: man thank god we have some young ones who actually do their research, know their history to help our history and dj are still able to be booked and be important in the culture.

00:38:18: What is a generational gap?

00:38:20: That hurts too.

00:38:21: like my son grew up hearing hip-hop from me playing it, not just me being an artist but for me playing.

00:38:27: So even though he has certain music listeners too that I don't really rock with He still will listen to Tribecore Quest and you know we'll take the things of their nature.

00:38:35: as a child who remembers be playing Tribecore quest And remember's be playing Onyx and things in our nature.

00:38:41: so he has uh You know well rounded palette saying so We have a lot youth out here basically raised themselves.

00:38:50: So a lot of their music revolves around pain, but a lot them are living within pain.

00:38:54: so that music represents... ...that pain You know like with the whole playlist game That wouldn't have worked back in the days because Back In The Days The transitions Within Their Music were just as powerful As The Music.

00:39:07: you Know what I mean if your going to say that's why When A DJ Plays My Music i love.

00:39:11: when there is a shout out over my music Or There Is Some Cuts Within The Music Im Going To Clip It And Im Going Make A Post Out Of it.

00:39:16: Because I Want You To Feel That feel, I want to bring as an artist.

00:39:20: I wanna bring that feel when hip-hop would make everything stop where the record comes on.

00:39:24: You know what I'm saying?

00:39:25: Everything just stops.

00:39:26: all you hearing is that record When a cut come in and brings it or when that drop comes Or when DJ introduces the record.

00:39:33: i still have love for that Cause thats what introduce me to Hip Hop.

00:39:37: The playlist.

00:39:38: It's just playing songs.

00:39:40: You know, you don't have that vibe and a bunch of songs AND they're playin' like the whole song straight through!

00:39:45: You not bringing it back...you not spinning them back There is no sound effect..there are no DJs introducing their record.

00:39:51: That whole playlist thing takes energy away from hip-hop.

00:39:54: Thats my dislike about it but I dont hate if things change But what we love from the roots in the core of Hip Hop doesn't mean stop doing this because something else gained a little bit popularity.

00:40:06: And that's my problem with MCs, a lot of MC stop rapping because they don't like streaming.

00:40:10: You can tell me as an emcee you stopped emceeing Because you don't stream it.

00:40:14: and I think That the only reason why do you stop is cause you dont like streaming or you think?

00:40:20: You don't have enough followers on social media so nobody wants to hear what your doing.

00:40:24: but A lot of emcees quality emceas stops because of that.

00:40:28: than that you know, killed the purity of a game and authenticity.

00:40:32: It took so many people out it.

00:40:33: but now we got some young guys coming up within The Matrix that aren't fans to The Matrix are putting on good music because easy for lotta artists my age that'll say man nobody's doing this anymore.

00:40:45: You know thats far from the truth.

00:40:46: But theres always artist out here doing good music bro.

00:40:48: Yeah of course man its a dope hip hop going everyday.

00:40:52: We have guy like Riggs like Rome Street You know, like those type of guys may have some bangers and they're young under a thirty years old I think.

00:41:02: So you know...

00:41:03: Let's go!

00:41:04: Real hip-hop is here man it's here to stay.

00:41:06: Yeah

00:41:07: most definitely ain't going nowhere.

00:41:08: Hell yeah man.

00:41:09: And as an artist what has been the biggest challenge in your career?

00:41:14: Well bigger challenges being older MC man getting your sound heard because this visual society so..you gotta be seen You know, you gotta have visual representations of yourself.

00:41:29: The video isn't as powerful it used to be now with some more sold shorts and reels.

00:41:34: Um...you got a final way to present yourself To make yourself interesting.

00:41:37: so that's the challenge.

00:41:39: It's a challenge doing my brand-of hip hop because I don't necessarily Make commercial music for the radio But i'm not totally underground either.

00:41:47: You know what im saying?

00:41:48: Im somewhere in between there.

00:41:49: You know..I can slide to each side but i am neither one.

00:41:54: I have to find my niche and make it, makes sense.

00:41:58: You know that's the biggest challenge.

00:41:59: And you know i live in North Carolina now.

00:42:01: so thats a challenge as well because its not like if ive still in New York... I could probably do three shows a week right there Because those are platforms for artists like myself that rock all week.

00:42:13: Or If I was overseas..I can be doing shows like crazy or on tours.

00:42:17: But you know North Carolina For what im bringing.

00:42:20: The market is kind of small.

00:42:21: Its widespread.

00:42:23: Everything is so far away from each other.

00:42:25: What

00:42:26: part of North Carolina are you

00:42:28: in?

00:42:28: I'm in Durham right now.

00:42:30: Okay,

00:42:31: yeah, I mean there

00:42:32: shit.

00:42:33: if I knew man we should have linked up.

00:42:35: i was In north carolina last year bro We're

00:42:38: pulling alkaline.

00:42:39: what's your win?

00:42:40: I wasn't.

00:42:40: Winston Salem and Charlotte too.

00:42:43: Yeah, when she's selling but I want some change for me Charlotte maybe two hours my niece lives in Charlotte So I go out there frequently all y'all to pull it off.

00:42:50: I definitely pulled up.

00:42:51: But you guys have a dope hip-hop scene out there though.

00:42:54: It's not... I

00:42:55: think it was the dope hip hop scene everywhere, You just gotta know where its at man.

00:42:58: Yeah yeah for real man

00:43:00: You might tell me something about Charlotte that i don't even know.

00:43:03: Everything is so widespread and like.. Im still learning Like im still meeting people in this state That ive never met before And theres alot of people who haven't met in person Because the less time u really had to be in person networking with people You know what I mean?

00:43:23: Some people got kids, you gotta put them to bed.

00:43:25: Or you've got a wife who's gonna maintain or other vocational goals that we have to take care of.

00:43:31: so... That is my real biggest obstacle truthfully and in real man terms just being a person still doing this and having the balance for life loving career because even if your relationship it's a lot cause No, like I could do this interview here that maybe I go to studio then it's like oh damn.

00:43:53: I ain't call my lady shit.

00:43:54: Yeah, you

00:43:56: gotta you got a juggle between your life shit music shit

00:44:01: And you can't wait to do nothing.

00:44:02: if you've got something on the plate just do it Like.

00:44:04: yeah, I'm gonna call later or I'll go to Studio.

00:44:07: Lady.

00:44:07: It's never a later

00:44:09: Yep

00:44:09: for me.

00:44:10: i can lay down for thirty minutes nap and wake up four hours later.

00:44:14: Well, it's not everybody that has the same mindset.

00:44:17: You know Like I say it all the time and you can have all those talent in world.

00:44:21: but at end of day if u don't have to hustle, the motivation do things nothing is gonna happen.

00:44:28: You know?

00:44:29: And shit!

00:44:30: All this like you...you have the motivation..You have vision....and you understand how music business works.

00:44:37: so you're

00:44:39: lucky!!

00:44:40: It's not everybody that has a mindset or entrepreneur.

00:44:46: What are

00:44:47: you doing it for?

00:44:48: I had to ask a young emcee one time, like what he gonna do when you post your song and don't get any likes.

00:44:55: You know me or just going stop rhyming Or keep pushing that song.

00:44:59: It gets a lot!

00:45:02: I got some posts that don't give no likes.

00:45:03: Now i might have posted against the hundred likes And this is same song.

00:45:06: Yeah, yeah, yeah It may be different DJs who played it.

00:45:10: It could be a different clip.

00:45:12: It maybe a different style of clip.

00:45:14: But even with my podcast, you know I got some reels that might be two three thousand.

00:45:18: And i've got some reals.

00:45:19: there might be six.

00:45:21: Does it mean stop going?

00:45:22: You know what i'm saying?

00:45:23: It's a science behind How reels connect and the algorithms come connected With.

00:45:28: is this science behind?

00:45:29: now?

00:45:30: its not like when they used to Be chronological.

00:45:32: Now They really just want you To boost the post.

00:45:34: yep That's What they Really Want.

00:45:36: you Know i'm Saying.

00:45:37: so You know, you just got to figure out what works for yourself man.

00:45:40: Just keep pushing.

00:45:42: that's how I look at it Man.

00:45:43: is he pushing by the time we play one record?

00:45:46: I'm playing on.

00:45:46: hit you with another records in there.

00:45:47: Yeah

00:45:48: There's no secret recipe for that.

00:45:50: No

00:45:51: every hot as its own recipe.

00:45:53: It's different too.

00:45:54: You know every artist is different every person

00:45:57: yeah.

00:45:58: So

00:45:58: it's not gonna be the same strategy For everybody?

00:46:02: No, no like I want do more in person.

00:46:04: things Like oh i gotta go back home into New York for a show with Cusher Preen, with WSB.

00:46:09: My thing is Stoney Broke.

00:46:10: he hit me up about coming to this show and I gotta make way to get out of there.

00:46:14: you know what I'm saying?

00:46:15: Outta the Knicks are killing right now.

00:46:17: Might get up there catch a watch party go live.

00:46:21: it's so different when you meet people alive.

00:46:23: It just so different man Just like doing an interview with you.

00:46:26: that makes our relationship difference because we see where they're gonna look like.

00:46:28: You know what i'm saying.

00:46:29: its just how the game is.

00:46:31: Artists, I think are spoiled from my generation because they're used to people doing everything for them.

00:46:36: They use the other people setting up their interviews that you saw other People set up a promo and marketing used two other people Doing there artworks?

00:46:42: That used to other people do in their bios.

00:46:45: You so other people during the treatment for this videos.

00:46:48: So when you have to do it yourself now for a lot of people It's overwhelming And then makes not want to do with no more because now you're not inspired.

00:46:54: The right cuz got to do all these other things you know same like for me.

00:46:58: That's the fun part, man.

00:47:00: Me sending you a bio that's the phone park or trying to create some artwork?

00:47:04: That's The fun part of me.

00:47:04: You know what I'm saying representing myself the way i want To be represented and making the kind Of hip-hop that i wanna hear Myself.

00:47:11: yeah

00:47:12: but for Some people What i just said is inspiring.

00:47:15: it's overwhelming For them

00:47:17: this week because you Know your sound And you have the vision you understand Your lane.

00:47:24: so

00:47:25: Yeah

00:47:27: It's not everybody down that has us lame because everybody wants to maybe sound like the next person so they can get a buzz, but no.

00:47:36: Like we said before... Everybody is unique and different.

00:47:39: So everyone's got his own lane or their own sounds.

00:47:42: It want you understand that there are no limits to this shit.

00:47:47: Yeah for sure.

00:47:49: And... Shit man What come in now?

00:47:53: I know just dropped the tracks with DJ clip styles.

00:47:57: What's going for you, for your twenty-twenty six and beyond?

00:48:00: Well what I actually did...I put two free downloads on Bandcamp.

00:48:05: That still got another joint called Clear Vision And I'ma drop a mix that Glypstiles did..that was the best of last year that i never put out.

00:48:15: imma put dat on Bandcam For Free.

00:48:17: Then I have an EP.

00:48:18: I did from my father when Giant Sleep Imma Put Dat For Free.

00:48:22: then in August Imma put out a ten song album.

00:48:25: Nice.

00:48:26: You know, I've been doing all EP's.

00:48:27: so imma do a ten song album and probably sometime in August try to get some sync license.

00:48:33: with that.

00:48:34: Im gonna push down on it a little bit different.

00:48:38: That might be my exit man.

00:48:39: you know i say this all the time.

00:48:40: I don't know that might be last project.

00:48:42: I'll probably do singles here or there.

00:48:47: Don't say that, man.

00:48:49: If it's in your brother bro you can never say this is the last project I know as an artist how do feel.

00:48:54: there are a lot of people who said that.

00:48:56: But when they're really passionate one day we gonna wake up and be like damn let go back to studio.

00:49:02: Well i can say this too man.

00:49:04: Anybody have heard me saying that?

00:49:06: They not listenin' anyway.

00:49:09: How many artists tell you its going to be their last?

00:49:10: It has been Jay-Z last record for ten years.

00:49:16: So, but the name of that album in August is going to be called No Industry Required.

00:49:20: And um you know let's basically say I don't need to initially do what i'd do.

00:49:23: this Is What I love.

00:49:25: so even if I said That was my last project not really classed physically But it might Be My Last.

00:49:30: as far As Pushing Projects I Might Just Do Singles and just Keep Banging Music Here In There.

00:49:36: but as Far As Putting Our Album Together Like I'm Gonna Do This yeah that might be it because imma have a You Know Total Conceptual.

00:49:43: All My EPs are Conceptual.

00:49:44: You know what I mean?

00:49:45: They're all different.

00:49:46: The style is different on all of them, so it's like hard to listen the one project of mine and say okay this is what trade-out is unless you really introspectively thinking everything is different love makes a difference was all revolved around Love.

00:49:58: um...the experience with just a boom back album..you know i did a soul trade album which was a hip hop soul project had blood sweat and tears which was more so.

00:50:07: the thought process over an adult emcee....I mean there are whole lot things that got on band camp.

00:50:12: thats nothing I loved about Bandcamp.

00:50:14: Everything is cataloged right there, you know and all the botching stuff just turned me off to Spotify.

00:50:19: honest Like he ain't really making no big money off it anyway.

00:50:22: So I'll just quit.

00:50:23: You don't mean people that want to hear what i do.

00:50:26: they go to band camp.

00:50:27: They're going on my website Or be on my socials?

00:50:30: I don't think im losing anything by not being on social media.

00:50:33: I'm streaming services.

00:50:35: so Im got music thats on The digital platforms but thats from before.

00:50:39: But I stopped using those like maybe two years ago.

00:50:41: You know James, so I don't think i'm going back to him.

00:50:46: No, no Apple music maybe but

00:50:50: if that works for you this way then should keep going like that.

00:50:54: Yeah

00:50:55: everybody with available on all platforms yeah That shit be pissing me off

00:51:01: People that don't use platform's like.

00:51:03: I've seen Shit tech from Smith & Wesson.

00:51:07: he dropped a mixtape not too long ago And he did not put it on streaming platform.

00:51:12: He used his own website, if I'm not mistaken.

00:51:15: You saw people on

00:51:16: Instagram say If you want to mix tape there was only one place To get in and its right here.

00:51:21: so...

00:51:22: Yeah Tech is dope!

00:51:23: I like that.

00:51:23: I know RJ Payne Was doing this for a long time.

00:51:26: He was selling things Right from the website.

00:51:29: So my knowledge actually did Very well with him because he has a sound Unique of himself.

00:51:35: Go ahead and try.

00:51:36: man On Bandcamp, yo within the first two weeks I was on band camp.

00:51:42: I mean i made more money that would have been streaming Within three weeks.

00:51:46: you know what?

00:51:46: So but the key when You do something on a website or in band camp is how Do you consistently bring traffic to your location?

00:51:54: You Know that's that'll be the challenge and earlier you asked question about it.

00:51:57: challenge That's actually a challenge.

00:52:00: You know even getting views on YouTube.

00:52:03: You know that's a challenge now as compared before because now everything is ad-driven.

00:52:08: You know, dealing with YouTube you got to do the Google ads and all of those things And with Bandcamp we gotta find out how to drive traffic.

00:52:17: So that becomes a challenge as well.

00:52:19: A lot MCs give up on it But I'm wondering where.

00:52:23: maybe this week nobody came in my sight.

00:52:25: Maybe their five long weeks or thousands people can't Like with Band Camp.

00:52:28: i look at the numbers.

00:52:29: I've had three four days when no one has come into my band camp.

00:52:31: Then suddenly next day hundred twenty people went on.

00:52:34: today It could be anything From the YouTube story, that's why I put so many stories up because people go through my stories and it's revolving door.

00:52:41: And before you know it... Oh boom!

00:52:43: Tradeouts on another mixtape.

00:56:12: Hip hop Another form of expression where you can really, really dig into different records.

00:56:17: That's why I'm kind of disappointed with some of the MCs off my age range how they don't use their platform to just talk to people.

00:56:25: man There are so many ways You can express yourself in hip-hop

00:56:30: So many stories to be told, you know.

00:56:32: Yeah it's like yourself as a DJ.

00:56:34: You probably see certain DJs and wonder why they don't break records.

00:56:36: It's just like while are playing the same record that everybody plays?

00:56:40: You got a platform your popular now not get in at beginning trying To build the name.

00:56:58: You can showcase once in a while.

00:56:59: I'm sure you're just overwhelmed, iIm just glad that... ...i'm at the point when i send you something and listen to it.

00:57:04: That's like the key because.. ..i know u might get thousands per day if not five or ten thousand per day.

00:57:11: And just to have it where a DJ actually listens to what your saying thats half of the battle.

00:57:18: Just being heard.

00:57:18: Thats half- And If YOU hear it and play It means other DJs are gonna look for it and wanna listen.

00:57:25: Because some DJs, the copycat DJ's they might listen.

00:57:45: if there's a personal research Yep Then but she that's that's the power when building a network.

00:57:50: And I think a lot of younger artists Don't realize The power and the relevancy of building a network.

00:57:58: And getting these spins from DJs that are reputable, doing these shows and presenting yourself in a powerful way You know what I'm saying?

00:58:08: Even a person just seeing their thumbnail or your face talking Everything has to represent you In some kind of way.
